Having spent twenty eight years in the Security Industry I think that I have the experience to talk about this subject.

I cant help but force a smile at some of the so called “Security Specialists” that are now taking centre stage.

I know that there are several ex military security organisations that provide, and carry out an excellent service, but then you get G4S – How the heck did this  incompetent organisation slip in to the equation?

Let us look at the 2012 London Olympics fiasco – Analyst Robert Plant of JP Morgan Cazenove said that “We believe that the contract will have sales of £100m, with perhaps an extra £30m of additional sales coming from security deals with corporate sponsors of the games” – Source – This is Money updated 9.21 – 22nd March 2011.

Time line : How G4Ss bungled Olympics security contract unfolded. Resulting in resignation of G4S Chief Nick Buckles. Security costs for the Olympic budget have risen from £282m to £553m – From the Telegraph Sunday 1st August 2018

G4S can keep running Brook House Immigration Removal Centre following detainee abuse scandal Home Office quietly announces.

Guards apparently chocking, mocking and abusing detainees.

Announcement posted on departments website, but not sent out as a press release to journalists.

Peter Neden, President of G4S UK and Ireland later told MPs that he was ” ashamed by the images”

My own experience with G4S, who on top of all other security contracts that they have managed to blag, were responsible for electronic tagging, was when they wrongly sent the Police around to my house to arrest me for breaking my curfew

The fact that at this stage, I was still being treated as a “suspect” (the full letter of apology from Head of Custody in Nottinghamshire Paul Saint came later).

They, G4S had forgotten to update their records when the Judge at the Crown Court changed my curfew times. When the official paperwork was produced to the Police, the two young Constables were quick to name G4S as the culprits for this c**k *p.

However, a quick rendition of now f**k *ff in E Minor from my wife, seemed to prompt them on their way.

On further investigation, we did get a couple of written letters of apology from G4S saying lessons will be learned ( I still hold these letters should the need arise to use them in evidence)

My point in all this is how on earth is such an incompetent Security Company allowed to continue to be in existence when they cannot do anything without making serious errors – and the numbers in money that they are charging?????

Sack them, fine them for being so useless – get someone in the select committee to explain to the general public WHY the UK Government are still using them, and finally – Give the contracts to the ex Military people who will provide a service that is expected and needed in these troubled times.
