I never realised that being plagued with mental illness allowed you to smile – but today I did.
The reason – Was from an article that I read in the Sun (Thursday 20th September 2018) regarding the coffee chain Starbucks.
Apparently, allegedly or any way you want to look at it, The Sun reported that last year, Starbucks made £162m profit, and paid £4.5m in tax. Its bill was 2.8 per cent. hmmmmmm.
I go back to when I took my Royal Mail Pension in a lump sum ( as offered) – this enabled us to finish a building project where we could live, and a place that would be easier to get around as I move into my latter years in life.
HMRC wanted, or should I demanded 25% of my pension ( that I had already worked for, and paid tax on) – with the threat and involvement of a bailiff company.
The words “We take non payment of tax very seriously” doesn’t really seem to apply to the “big boys” – but I suppose it is a lot easier to bully the everyday man or woman.
Lets have a level playing field – and NOT a two tier system that is applied in a way to suit the rich.
