Five paces forward – ten steps back, to the point where I have had to ask the IPSO to stop contacting me unless they have something constructive to say.
In IPSO 1, I told you bout dealings that I have had with this organisation – the Organisation that is there to supposedly ensure that newspapers adhere to an Editors strict code of conduct.
This organisation came into existence following the damaging Leveson enquiry, especially as the regulators at the time, the Press Complaints Commission had received extensive criticism for its lack of action in the News International phone hacking scandal.
The PCC closed on Monday 8th September 2014 and was replaced by the Independent Press Standards Organisation, chaired by Sir Alan Moses.
But as Brian Cathcart from the Hacked Off (the campaign for a free & accountable press) documents –
“Right back to its origins in the Hunt/Black plan, the IPSO has always been a device to avoid rather than deliver accountability. Newspapers will go to extraordinary lengths to avoid being held to a code of practice. For example -Their coverage of the deaths of L,Wren Scott and Robin Williams, their persistently cruel reporting of transgender people and their scandalous inaccurate reporting on immigration. IPSO is another toothless poodle, a deliberate and calculated fraud upon the public, perpetrated by a tiny group of men responsible for wholesale wrong doing and abuse of vulnerable people”
So, lets revisit my case, embroiled in an armed drugs robbery, beaten and abused by Police Custody Staff, remanded to Prison, before being bailed under the strictest of conditions and then dragged through the judicial system for months before the Police realise my innocence and all charges against me (to which I had been informed saw me looking at a ten year sentence if convicted) were thrown out of the Crown Court.
If I am going to be allowed to “melt back” into the local community I need to get the original publications removed, an apology given, and the truth published. Is this too much to ask?
I have provided all documentary evidence asked for by IPSO and had emails from TODD STAMMERS(honestly), JONATHAN BELL, TAKU RATCLIFF, &TONIA MILTON.
Are we any further down the line???? I think not.
Originally I had been told that they wouldn’t look into my complaint because it was out of the twelve month window, I now have serious mental health problems, untreated PTSD,
The case has serious racial undertones – Police Inspector Gowan documented that he wouldn’t admit to it, or not.
The IPSO then say they will consider the threats made to me from the Newark Advertisers DAN CHURCHER – I send them documented evidence, as requested and wait.
I then get an email from then stating as the threats were made over four months ago then they would not act……..WTF is happening ….this is pushing my mental health to such a low point – messing with my brain

I think that it is safe to say that the IPSO is not fit for purpose.
When it allows a journalist to make threats to a member of the public, ignores racial hatred and is happy for the general public to be misled (in the interest of newspaper sales) – what is the reason for their existence?
